Medical Marijuana Laws New Stimulus For States, Tech Industries?

As another example of what appears to be a good idea and Constitutional, and yet approached and legislated in the "wrong" manner, the perfect example it now appears is the "legalization" of medical marijuana in quite a few states throughout the nation.

How so?

In an article published by the AP, it appears the State of Colorado is formulating legislation in order to "track" users and purchasers, using high tech gadgetry and video surveillance at the "points of purchase" in the state requiring these rather small businesses and clinics eventually to be mandated to purchsae, I'm sure, these gadgets and the software to hook them up to state databases.

It is being announced and publicized as in the interests of preventing large scale "black market" distribution of medical grade marijuana, although at the prices that most of these clinics are charging for these prescriptions, I'm sure the street variety will still have a much larger share of the market than the "purer" grade.

Until, of course, the companies manufacturing those joints decides to increase their profit margins, and starts using additives in those joints also to perhaps make a "drug" that is questionably addictive even more so.

Instead of merely rescinding and readdressing the laws which have banned the sale of marijuana for recreational or medicinal purposes and left it at that, and focused on increasing the penalties for large scale distribution on the street, this also appears aimed toward eventually another national or global entity cornering the market on distribution "rights" in many of the states, edging out the small businesses once again mostly owned by holistic physicians or solo MDs.

And there is already in place in most states throughout the nation tracking on prescriptions written by doctors for Class III drugs, and medical marijuana does take a prescription and is classified, to my knowledge, as a Class III drug.

So why isn't there a move to put such cameras in all pharmacies also throughout the nation? Or perhaps that is also already in the works, since there does seem to be more illegal activity regarding some of those "advertised" Class III drugs, anti-depressants, pain killers and the like by those large pharma companies and those inhibitors in those three minute ads on mainstream television every night during prime time.

Increasing penalties on pot in sales to juveniles and large scale operations which are moving imported and exported drugs globally and nationally appears again what may be needed here, but then I am only a mere citizen who can see where this all is eventually leading, and soon that marijuana needed for those whom are deriving health benefits will be $100.00 a joint, plus tax.

And consist of street quality pot, with three minute disclosure commercials "disclosing" all the chemical addictives that most likely will result in a major lawsuit for some patient that has an allergic reaction or develops lung cancer due to the additives in the paper or something else less than 20 years down the road.

Colorado is not the only state, it appears, that is jumping on the commercial marijuana bandwagon for the "jobs and the economies" of those that see bucks in the misfortune of others, however.

And as the prices begin to soar into the stratosphere due to such an agenda, the major drug traffickers, street vendors and black market cross borders importers are licking their lips.

Since such an attempt by the states to micromanage and monitor sales, by feeding another industry and the state itself off those whose numerous medical conditions and its symptoms truly are alleviated by medicinal or recreational use, or the small businesses who are now able to operate in many areas of local communities where such clinics are needed, will end up making them a bundle and increase the demand.

Those in poor health may not be working and already collecting social service benefits, and do need to cut costs whereever they can on prescriptions and extraneous expenses, and $100 joint will make the street value all the more attractive once again, unless the Medicaid supplements also will be increasing accordingly.

I'm sure those rolling paper manufacturers are also delighted.

Globalists Buffet, Gates Pledge Bears Scrutiny

In the mainstream media this week, there was an article publishing the fact that two of the wealthiest Americans, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, have been holding luncheons with various members of the upper 10% income earners in order to gently arm wrestle them into pledging to give 50% of their wealth to charitable organizations.

It does seem ironic in this writer's opinion that these two individuals, both of whom have gained their wealth through government contracts and legislative lobbying for "privileges and immunties" not given to the general public for their corporate interests, would be heralded for such a venture.

Which civic organizations I wonder are they referring to? Those that benefit America and its economy and citizens or primary those of the "global good" as is the focus from published reports of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, as globalists primarily while Americans are losing their homes and jobs due to the globalism focus of many of these global industrialists.

Most of their wealth has been gained also by their global interests which have progressively, at least in the instance of Mr. Gates, caused loss of American jobs due to now computerized systems that have replaced American workers, not to mention the outsourcing also that has cost so many Americans their jobs in order to build up profits for their corporate interests.

Interesting also that John Kyl, the junior Senator from Arizona, was quoted as stating that "did we really need to raise taxes on individuals that provide jobs."

For whom, Senator? For government employees at the taxpayer's ultimate expense, or from foreign outsourced labor?

Corporations do only pay taxes on their profits, and by hiring more American workers or reinvesting in their businesses it ultimately lowers their tax rates across the board, so am I missing something here?

Perhaps rewinding the intent of the founders for taxation on "property" which is what each and every American corporate interest is, would ultimately be the most beneficial tax system of all.

Simply taxing those corporations on the value of their fixed assets annually and valuations as a "property tax," might be the fairest tax of all.

And taxing those imports, labor included, in order to rebalance the scales and provide more jobs for domestic labor, as opposed to the foreign variety.

BP Excuses Beginning To Sound Hollow

I have to suspect that I must not be the only American that has come to the conclusion that the excuses that are now being given by BP (British Petroleum) over their inability to cap this oil spill that just so happened to occur as the American public was demanding more domestic production, and less reliance on foreign crude due to the ongoing and continuing War on Terrorism (oil) are beginning to sound rather hollow...and familiar.

And Louisiana and the U.S. government's hand wringing also suspect.

Obama has stated that he plans to be "hands on" in the cleaning up of this disaster due also to globalization and foreign ownership of another American vital industry which apparently went for the most part unregulated which resulted in the loss of more American lives at the hands of foreigners.

It is interesting that this was a British company involved, and that although Mr. Obama's efforts have been restricted for the most part in formulating another panel at the taxpayers expense to study just what occurred, I wonder if he has also directed them to study some of those "free trade" agreements with global corporations which are operating outside U.S. regulatory body oversight more and more?

I mean post Katrina and the U.S. recession, it is the British and Canadians who are buying up a great many of those million dollar homes in the French Quarter and Garden District, many of whom also work for BP.

And I wouldn't hesitate to guess that as the U.S. gets involved now in this disaster posthumously, that there is a move in Washington to increase the gasoline taxes then in order to provide for the revenue to clean up this spill, even given the announced "fines" that are being levied against BP (which, I'm sure, will be appealed under those "free trade" agreements, leaving again the American public holding the bag).

Washington, and the Global Socialists in both the Republican and Democratic parties have become oh so predictable.

Sort of like Hollywood, that has taken to making more and more "remakes" of both cancelled television series formats, "digitally enhanced" versions of rereleases, or earlier Hollywood blockbusters as their standard fare.

This country can place a man on the moon, and developed the nuclear bomb, and can't clean up an oil spill.

Since we also have shared that technology with Britain and also those other foreign countries and "allies" who now have again risked American lives for their global commercial gain.

While Congress, and this Adminstration as the last, creates panels and twiddles its thumbs.

Fairly similar to the Katrina disaster and subsequent response, for which many lost their homes for eventual foreign and commercial gain.

For which many of those working still on the reconstruction are, once again, foreigners or illegal government contractor or day labor immigrants.

I wonder if the BP reconstruction will be a replay of the Katrina repairs?

Providing for the jobs and the economy, once again, of foreigners for that global economy?

First AIG (American International Group, but London home domiciled) and now BP.

Kinda makes you wonder....

Well, after the oil settles (pun intended) there will, after all, be then future oil reserves discovered again in the future to guarantee those oil barons and their families continued wealth. I mean this is not really a renewable form of energy for the most part.

Hmmm...maybe BBC Worldwide (an ally of the Fox USA network, it would appear) also needed the cash since this has been a major news story now for a good deal of the last month and those ad revenues and advertisers needs must also be satisfied, no matter what the cost or the spin.

Proposition 100: Arizonans Victimized And Misled Once Again

As if the garbage over the "new" illegal immigrant law codifying the federal laws with respect to illegal foreigners in this country wasn't enough with all the outside agitators and backlash that has resulted, the clueless Arizonans just victimized themselves once again due to the special interest lobbying groups operating without any check or balance within that state.

Including those state employees who were behind the push to increase the sales taxes in Arizona at a time of both increasing homeless and joblessness due to the progressively regressive global agendas of both political parties at the present time.

Early returns show that the Arizona citizenry has passed an added transaction privilege tax in order to purportedly fund the deficits in the state budgets with respect to education and public services.

The only problem is that the clueless Arizona public, consisting of mostly transplanted Easterners and Californians at this point in Arizona's history, have no idea that a hike in the transaction privilege tax which is levied against the corporate interests in that state will be passed on to the Arizona citizenry, and as a general "sales" tax will simply go into the general fund for the legislature to spend at will and not for those purpose for which this added tax was promoted.

And will, of course, continue to increase the bankruptcies in that state which have increased in leaps and bounds due to just such measures as these.

Not to mention that if any of those sums do go into education, will simply stay at the top increasing the ASU president's salary from the current $700,000 to maybe $750,000 and not trickle down to those teachers in any manner whatsoever.

Or to the local law enforcement for the bogus "new" illegal immigrant law, since most of those law enforcement officials also get civic contributions from those businesses that are hiring those illegals that supplement their pay in added benefits, so the Arizona legislature will simply deny any added budgetary requests from the city and state law enforcement officials as has progressively also occurred.

So that they can continue to feed their special interest lawyer, real estate and financial sector groups for their next run for office.

Arizona is a transient state, which markets to retirees most of all in order to fleece them of their wealth in one form or another, or progressively bankrupt the longer term residents until they also eventual move in order to feed their real estate and land fraud backers.

Proposition 100 was promoted as a "temporary" increase in the sales and/or transaction privilege tax in Arizona, but if history serves, this tax will be permanent.

And the homeless and jobless in the Arizona washes will simply increase.

Since the monster must be fed, and until the Arizona residents are truly bled dry, the monster apparently is insatiable.

Beware America.

Those now "cheap" homes have a price that is far above the listed price for those foreclosed homes.

Your eventual ruin.

Three-Card Monte Arizona Style

If the political gamesmanship over the illegal immigration situation isn't enough, there is more rotten in the State of Arizona than simply the continued negligence of the State officials over this issue.

Enter the three card monte style of western government and extortion.

Although this state has been one of the hardest hit due to the California banks and mortgage scams and the fallout from the open borders since the Reagan amnesty with continued negligence at both the state and federal levels which has lead to thousands upon thousands losing their homes and jobs, the Arizona legislature and state government isn't finished yet, it appears.

This week the citizens of Arizona are being asked to fork over another "temporary" increase in the sales taxes in order to supposedly cover budgetary gaps in education, health care and public safety.

Recently I attended the graduation of a family member at one of the public institutions of higher learning in Arizona.

During the speechifying for the masses by the faculty, there was a plea to the public for the passage of Proposition 100, in order to bulk up the universities budgets in that increased "temporary" sales tax.

An institution that was granted within the last year, along with the other two public universities, one of the highest tuition rate increases ever - and during a recession where there lies vacant thousands of Arizona homes.

And in a state which the state Constitution provides that funding for education IS a Constitutional function of the Arizona state government, one of their primary functions, although more and more revenue is earmarked for discretionary expenditures in annual budgets, with threats then instead directed to reducing public services and education funding in order to close the gap due to a balanced budget initiative that was passed by the Arizona citizens way back when in order to rein in the cost of government.

Most of these universities receive their funding by the Arizona residents through their property taxes primarily, and Arizona has had a "growth at all costs" agendas for at least the past three decades which has expanded the tax base tremendously in the process - although its now reliance on tourism, and as a retirement state for those from colder climes and then progressively forsaking its sustainable industries (cotton, cattle, copper, climate for those with respiratory diseases, and citrus) has cost this state dearly.

Foreclosures and empty homes mean that the amount of revenue has shunk within the past four years, however, little nod has been given that prior to that time the state was raking in added revenue during the boom since property taxes are tied into home valuations in the State of Arizona - and had doubled its number of citizens in less than ten years.

Also what was missing in this plea to the public during a graduation ceremony was the fact that those faculty members and administrators at the present time, including their taxpayer paid benefits, make more than most of those unemployed and homeless Arizonans - and can retire with full benefits after a mere 20 years service, and are also afforded the freedom to then work in another district or even community college while collecting their retirement benefits, thus double dipping.

As one who was affected by the increasing costs of ownership of my home due to state negligence, special interest "give mes" and rising taxation that bore no relevance to either the cost of living, or the Constitution parameters under which those state legislators were duty bound, I found using a graduation exercise in order for those university staff members to up their budgets, and increase their salaries once again at the public's expense both ill timed, and outrageous.

Interesting also is that this special election is scheduled a mere week after all three major universities have had their graduations, using the public and those graduates in order to raise their salaries, and budgets through this "special interest" proposition - since this measure did not pass the legislature when it was proposed in the last session.

The three card monty lives and breathes in Arizona, and I would not hesitate to guess, in the majority of other states across the nation.

Which sums ultimately would not be earmarked for education, health or public safety at all, since as a sales tax would merely go into the general fund for general budgetary purposes with no accountability whatsoever.

The desert isn't the only thing that is dry in Arizona.

Since it appears that unless and until the Arizona citizens' wallets are bled dry, the greedy state and local government appears insatiable.

Sort of like their Big Brother.

Obama On Road Trips For DNC?

Apparently, post the Obamanation of the Health Care Deform Act and fallout which has and continues to occur over that massive Constitutional violation of the citizenry in their Bill of Rights protections against "mandatory" laws such as the provisions in this one provides, Mr. Obama is hitting the road again on one of his many road trips in order to sell his deformed version of health care reform, and protect the careers of his fellow political party members.

It was announced by the APP that Mr. Obama is now sweeping the country holding meetings with small businesses in order to point out the benefits of this latest travesty on our Constitution, stopping for a weekend meet and greet on behalf of the DNC for his political parties benefit.

Apparently, using time as President in order to campaign and meet with his political parties corporate organization on behalf of his parties membership is not precluded while serving in office.

He is paid more than a full time salary, after all, especially with all those benefits, not a part-time one.

Although the DNC I would assume is picking up the costs for Mr. Obama's travel expenses, he is campaigning on their behalf at the expense of all the American people, however, Republicans, Democrats or Independents, since he is paid his salary from all those taxes which are collected from the American people and which it appears he and the 111th Congress don't feel is enough to sustain the federal trough.

Especially that House of Misrepresentatives, since the violations of the Senate, as representatives of the "states" interests, put them in conflict in many respects on Bill of Rights issues to begin with - since the state's interests many times can be diametrically opposed to those provisions also in the Bill of Rights for state revenue and gain at the cost of the general citizenry.

Such as what is increasingly occurring today. Corporate interests over American's "unalienable" rights progressively.

I hope those small business owners give him an earful, since this bill has absolutely no benefits to those owners in that piddly tax credit he is attempting to focus on if those employers will tow the federal government's line and provide health care benefits to their employees.

That credit is most likely less than it will be for the costs to provide those plans to their employees at their current levels.

And I wouldn't hesitate to guess, will be reduced over the course of years also if history is any indication of Washington's methods of bribery and extortion.

Which costs were what the problem was to begin with actually, which has been lost in the "process" and politicking.

Right now small businesses, and all businesses, get to deduct the costs of any health care insurance premiums from their overhead, thus inherently reduce their tax burdens in the process.

What should have happened is that the American public and sole proprietors should also be afforded that "privilege" and immunity, and all Americans should be able to deduct the expense of any monies spent on their medical care. Whether it be by insurance premiums and their costs, or directly to those physicans and hospitals for the amounts of those deductibles and uncovered expenses.

If you are placing a tax on labor illegally as that 16th Amendment provides, then any and all expenses in order to stay and remain productive throughout your lifetime in any way absent death, should be tax deductible.

I mean an elderly person in a nursing home until their last moment of life is still productive, in even educating their nearest and dearest in family history, if nothing else.

Work doesn't always equal compensation, in God's definition, since his Son carried out his work without monetary compensation whatsoever, for the most part.

It's apparent those in Washington have either entirely too much time on their hands for all the bogus legislation which now is coming down the pike, some of which even overlapping existing legislation in many respects, or have lost their ways on what their true priorities should be.

And do seem to have forgotten that their primary purposes are delineated in Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution.

Give him an earful, small business owners.

And ask for the breakdown of all the expenses and hours expended on behalf of the Democratic Party, which are also being billed to the taxpayers ultimately, rather than being at his desk according to the federal holiday schedule for the Easter break and holiday.

Since it seems he started his vacation a little early in order to stump on behalf of his political party honchos and constituents now doing damage control for them, the DNC, and why he now deigns to meet with you "non-stakeholders" at all.

And this goes for all those U.S. Senators and Congressmen now attempting to do use this deform bill also as a political tool and campaign issue.

Since just where were all of them when this legislation was being hatched behind those closed doors, rather than filing the criminal charges and directing that Sargeant at Arms to earn his pay by arresting those who were behind this heinous legislation in its current form which is clearly contrary to the provisions of America's actual law, the Constitution?

Drawing their straws, or speed dialing their marketing and political strategists ala Karl Rove (also paid at the taxpayer's expense) for their own personal damage control marketing strategies?

I wonder where this country would have been if Washington, Jefferson or Lincoln had political strategist or media marketing representatives?

Perish the thought.

Oh, wait. Isn't that where we are?

Hutaree Militia Group Christian?

Much has been published in the last few days on the mainstream media regarding the purportedly "Christian" military group, Hutaree, which was planning an anti-government attack on some Michigan police officers in order to facilitate a "revolution" in this country in the name of Christ.

As a Christian myself, I would hasten to disagree that this group is either Christian, nor acting in the name of Christ.

Christ was, after all, nonviolent with the exception of his attack on the moneylenders in the Jewish Temple who were desecrating the Temple grounds with their greed and avarice on holy days especially. His attack came this very week in the Christian calendar, and lead, of course, to his eventual cruxifiction.

He was attacking the unGodly principles of those within his own faith who were abusing the masses for their own profit most of all in overcharging on currency conversions for the required tithing sums toward support of the Temple and the Temple priests.

Roman coins had been deemed unacceptable by the Sanhedrin, and thus had to be converted to acceptable currency prior to making those donations from those whose other property sacrifices (such as crops or animal sacrifices) did not meet Jewish law in this respect during Passover.

It is also interesting that these arrests and this story came at a time, once again, when the general citizenry have become increasingly outraged with the goings on in Washington, particularly over the latest unconstitutional taxation on the masses, the Health Care Deform bill which was purportedly signed into law by Mr. Obama, along with other unrelated legislation which was included in that massive bill.

Most Americans are quite aware that fining the public for not purchasing one of the financial industries products, health care insurance, does smack of tyranny and also clearly a "taking" of the public's property without "due process" of law.

Since, of course, none of those now serving on the Hill were in any way duly elected, now that campaign contributions have been afforded them by their own legislation, and recent support of the Supreme Court "legalizing" funding outside their legislative districts - which is against the very fabric of a representative government as the founders created to begin with.

The market was speaking, and the costs of those policies and terms were not affordable or within the reach of many of the boomer generation especially due to the high profit margins those financial sector insurers require in order to feed their stockholders, and also their executives and lobbyists (and, of course, those unduly "elected" candidates).

Regulation was what was called for here of those global and national insurers of their products and rate increase models and structures, and some protection of those stockholders also in the compensation packages for those executives which also impacted their investment in some of those companies. And regulation of just what additional financial products or the degree of risks those insurers could spend those public monies and premiums on.

With Washington charged to regulate national and global commerce one of their delineated duties, not get into bed with them at the general citizenry's expense.

None of those Constitutional focuses were included, or any protection of the public over the costs and annual adjustments on those premiums and the impact which those insurers have over their very lives in fulfilling the terms of those policies when sick, ill or injured, merely a gesture in prohibiting refusals of coverage, but without even addressing the costs once again those higher risk individuals would be required to pay, or be fined by Washington for their disobedience with this "law."

And which practice is already prohibited by the laws of many of the several states to begin with, although many still afford those interstate and intrastate insurers to dictate waivers for much of the public for any and all "pre-existing conditions" which is defined as involving treatment within the five year period prior to application.

Affording outside "foreign" interests then to taint then the voices of their true constituency such as what occurred with this legislation, and giving then special interests, corporately or otherwise, domiciled or living outside legislative districts of those running for office an unequal voice in both the election process, and legislation now progressively.

Corporate personhood wasn't enough of an abridgement of the Constitution and Bill of Rights protections meant to protect the few (the citizens) from the masses (the corporate), what we have here is now a corporate takeover of America, and a global corporate takeover at that by even some non-U.S. domiciled corporations, such as AIG.

In other words, those that have the bucks (or claim corporate bankruptcy for campaign reinbursement expenses) are now calling the shots, as was apparent also from Mr. Obama's consultation with the "stakeholders" for this most recent travesty.

And why this group's site was a .com site if it was a politically focused organization and not a .org site is also beyond me. It appears the site was created in 2006, and then lapsed for a time, and was renewed once again then in 2009.

I have many questions about this purported planned "attack" also, since it does seem to me clearly that politically those in high places have a vested interest in publicizing for the masses stories such as these (although the charges actually can only be those of "intent" since no true "crime" was carried out or committed it would seem), since that bogus Homegrown Terrorist Act was passed by the House of Misrepresentatives back in 2006 (which has not, to my knowledge, even been passed by the Senate, and thus does not even have the force of law fundamentally to begin with).

Seems there could be some self-interest of the government going on here in highly publicizing these purported "crimes of intent" at this point, don't you think?

Now placing the local police and police forces on higher alert just perhaps may be the ultimate aim here, in facilitating a divisive citizenry for their own self-protection post this most recent legislation, or in order to once again justify some of the recent heinous legislation which continues to violate those "unalienable" rights those founders were attempting to protect from such violative acts as this past week once again.

And it would appear that those moneylenders of old, just may be recycling their selfish and unbiblical view of "the law" in reinstituting usury upon the masses in this country again for those bankers and moneylenders profits, which have no Godly precept to begin with.

The charging of usury is forbidden in all religions, however, the interpretation differs and therein lies the rub.

Christians and Muslims believe it is prohibited to charge urusy to anyone, whereas the Jewish faith believes it is a directive that onlhy applies to other Jews. Hence, that was why the Romans put the Jews in charge of moneylending to begin with within the Jewish subsociety, however, those charged with such duties and the Temple priests who were the beneficiaries turning a blind eye to what was occuring progressively in Biblical times as is happening today was what precipitated Christ's attack then on the Temple grounds.

The Jewish moneylenders were charging usury against other Jews against Mosaic law to his people.

And insofar as I have been able to research, those beliefs still remain which was why the British government way back when and the Church of England put the Jewish immigrants to that country in charge of lending and collection of taxes, transferring the Church's historic authority prior to the Middle Ages over moneylending once again back to the Jews.

And usury is any sum over the tithing rate of 10% with respect to banking and moneylending, or taxation.

It is the government and banks continuing in the practice of usury that is actually bankrupting now this country and its citizenry across the board. State and federal taxes now are over usury of most Americans tax home pay after deductions, and then on what they use their wages then on to buy with the state and federal taxes levied combined on purchases also in addition.

Americans are buying less, because they can't afford to buy since Big Daddy and their state governments have now become so greedy, and the bankers which are even holding those sums for future purchases with their fees and costs factored in just to have a bank account or use that little piece of plastic anymore.

Or to buy a home with all those up front junk fees and costs, and escalating terms - nothing more than usury again.

And the name for this group is more similar to "Hatari," that 1960's John Wayne movie, or "Atari" the video game company, than having any Aramaic or Christian basis, it appears.

I wonder if this is another job stimulus for the civil rights lawyers, in criminalizing intent now, since they are being represented by public defenders and a civil rights defense would be most likely the basis of the defense, and thus the state public defenders office eligible for federal monies for their local coffers for this case.

Call me a cynic, but much is rotten in Washington, that much is clear, and most of the state governments increasingly since that also unconstitutional 16th Amendment was passed changing the balance of power which made them more and more dependent on federal monies also due to their excesses, and increasing discretionary expenditures at the cost of funding those duties for which they truly are charged to provide under their state constitutions.

And Michigan is one of those states, thanks to Mr. Obama's layoff of a great many of those auto workers and plant closures, due to all the outsourcing which has also gone unrestrained of the U.S. industrial base, that has been impacted by these Obamanations and this Congress as with the Bush Administration, in its tax and spend philosophies this past year progressively.

There certainly seems to be a good many questions with respect to this incident that seems would bear further research of all Americans.

The Unions Aren't Detroit's Only Problem

reprint from www.backupamerica.org
For Any And All American Conserve-atives

Recently due to an extended stay in one of the southern states in the U.S. due to the aging and health of elderly parents, and recurring hospitalization over the course of the last two years involving two separate surgeries for each of them, as an almost lifelong westerner it was interesting to see just how some of the others states throughout the nation are obtaining additional taxes and revenue from their state residents.

It appears the games, costs and fees are getting steeper and steeper with each and every passing year. No matter how much revenue the states and local governments seem to get, it is never enough.

Like their big brother, the federal government progressively has become.

One of my relatives had a rather minor traffic violation during my stay. This state is also one of the few that has invoked a state law requiring automobile inspections annually, and not simply for emissions but equipment also (and only Americans registering their vehicles, when many cars in this country driven on our roadways due to globalization are not Americans, but also foreigners from Mexico and Canada particularly).

The costs for these inspections, of course, is another tax shared with the auto repair shops, and while the state fee is set at one rate, those auto repair shops are free to tack on even additional profits over and above that which they are getting from the state also for this less than three minute inspection.

Of course, it costs the state nothing for these inspections other than a few cents for the cost of those stickers, and the local governments also have been given permission by the big brother state government to also add on sums for their local coffers to the base state rate.

Quite a chunk of revenue for the state, local governments and those auto repair shops.

Which has also, due to the hurricanes and such that have ocurred in the South, increased the city and state coffers tremendously in those broken headlight, tailight, and directional signal violations on a public that is still reeling from the devastation of several hurricanes, Katrina, Rita and Gustav, within the past five years.

Some of which fines, in addition to then having to prove compliance with those laws, are levied at over $150-200 per violation.

Of course, under the common law compliance with the law in and of itself is supposed to be the aim, not the state (or city) making profits off of such petty civil violations, since that is what all those other assundry taxes are supposed to pay for, particularly sales, registration and those property taxes on automobiles already assessed against drivers - law enforcement and those public services and expenses that are governmental.

Problem is, due to all the discretionary spending, more and more the city/state are privatizing the actual intended governmental functions for added revenue in these public/private partnerships transferring the costs then to the private sector, yet affording them unregulated profits in the bargain, and then using then the revenue for discretionary expenditures at a greater and greater clip.

Making, of course, the tax bite then on the public astronomical now in the process, not simply for the costs of government actually, but also the profit margins of their state actor corporate entities.

And now, added to the ever increasing fines for minor traffic tickets is another corporate practice and cost which the state and local governments have incorporated which proves the corporate mentality, rather than Constitutional one, is running rampant at all levels of government.

Service charges now, in addition to even court costs, mean that your average speeding or failure to yield violation ticket now is approaching $300 or more nationwide, plus junk fees.

This method of revenue generation has become so lucrative, that many states are now leasing those speed cams like candy from the gadget industry and that science and technology field they are so enamoured with more and more.

Many of which, of course, are manufactured overseas. Or at least their parts.

Although the mandatory auto insurance laws throughout the nation still have many detractors, since the original concept for passage of that legislation way back when (1960's) was sold to the public in order to lessen taxpayer costs for our courts for property damage claims primarily, which 90% of all accidents actually are with only 10% involving damages over $1,000 (which it hasn't done, it has increased and bogged up our courts actually more since now those cases involve insurance company defense teams at higher costs, and more lengthy trials rather than small claims actions, for the most part), some of them are even passing legislation mandating impoundment of vehicles where the driver of such vehicle does not have proof of insurance.

Even though the driver of the vehicle itself may not even be the registered owner of the automobile, in many instances.

And is, in fact, a way in which the states with such laws apparently are attempting to circumvent the "due process" clause by confiscating property even without an opportunity for those individuals to have their day in court, or offer their arguments regarding the mandatory insurance laws and their applicability based on Constitutional grounds also.

Prior to the passage of those laws, proof of financial responsibility instead provided provisions for lower cost bonds, secured with collateral or "bondability" in some states as part of the licensing process.

This law, of course, is also a law in which even though less than 10% of the automobiles driven in America are involved in any type of moving violation, and even fewer involving significant injury or property damage, the masses are being actually punished for the actions of the few.

At this point with America's economy on such a downward spiral, and most of these backdoor taxes actually contributing to the decline in the ability of most Americans to stimulate the economies by having any leftover discretionary income at this point, many who argue in favor of rescinding the mandatory auto insurance laws do have a point, in my opinion.

Requring young drivers, or those who are getting older with slower reaction times, or even those who live in major metropolitan areas who demonstrate by the number of moving violations they have been cited for in any given number of years (the former point system) to have to purchase auto insurance would be letting the punishment fit the crime in those instances.

If the automobile industry is seeing a lack of sales, it just might truly be that the ultimate costs to now drive an automobile in this country, are also getting a little too much for the American public to bear.

And that doesn't count the cost of repairs to those expensive computers, in the event of malfunction, or theft.

That bill, just to "diagnose" the problem, is now over $100 and up at most automobile repair shops.

And don't even think of attempting to change your own oil, or sparkplugs on these babies. Or even replace a light in the headlamp, since those are so delicate that it takes a professional to simply change a bulb for most.

Not to mention the terms of some of those loans and leases, with all the caveats and hidden charges now contained within them, advertising those great low interest loans, but simply packaging those loans and lease terms with junk fees and charges to make up for the lowered interest rates.

Or the costs to simply register, or come up with the sales taxes on the purchase of a car. Most of the time, equaling about a third of its purchsae price by the time most Americans drive off that lot.

So Detroit's problems are complex, and doubt that it is simply the models they are offering (except to those Americans who would not own a car with a computer at this point to begin with) or being undercut to a large extent by foreign imports although that also has had a major impact in that some of those foreign imports concentrate on making the smaller, economy models which is now what the majority of the public can afford - not those gas guzzlers, or ones with so many bells and whistles that the upkeep and maintenance on them is a constant drain and large chunk of their take home pay.

It's the whole package in the costs involved in America today in having that "privilege" which is turning more and more into a liability.

Sort of like home "non-ownership" has become.

Money pits, and revenue generators for the state most of all in double, triple and quadruple taxation in one form or another.

It appears that it just might be that the market is speaking, and holding on to those old clunkers for a very good reason.

The Austin Incident: A Desperate American Taking Desperate Measures?

In reading now all the news reports on the recent suicide crash of a man into a Texas office building housing the Internal Revenue Service, this act of desperation as is clear from his written messages prior to the incident is once again being spun by the media for public consumption.

This country is now in the worst recession/depression since the Great Depression prior to World War II. Many, many individuals are losing their homes, while watching a Congress and their state and local government continue to pass bill after bill supporting industry and the financial sector and Wall Street in additional taxation and/or an increasing deficit and its inflation taxes stripping them even more of their hard earned dollars - a dollar which is now at its lowest level ever against the foreign currency of most of the industrialized world with the exception of maybe Mexico.

Even the Southern Poverty Law Institute, that lawyer lead group that has been involved in facilitating actually more and more outsourcing of jobs and U.S. labor in focusing more and more on the "rights" of even non-Americans got into the Act, although claiming this didn't appear to be a "right wing extremist" attack, or an act of terrorism.

A group, by the way, that I wouldn't hesitate to guess is receiving federal funding and grant monies courtesy of the U.S. taxpayers as an "educational" institute, while bringing lawsuit after lawsuit against Americans protecting the "rights" of non-Americans indiscriminantly in a great many instances.

Hello? Has this group which is so left leaning it is off the map ever studied U.S. history and the amount of Americans, in their desperation, either committed suicide after they were left homeless, jobless and after losing all they had after the first banker manipulated depression in this country, or were so adversely impacted they ended up destitute and more than a few of which were institutionalized or incarcerated due to such acts of desperation?

So many are rushing to judgement, and I am not defending this individual or his actions in the slightest, although many are reaching in their judgement as far as asking such questions as:

a) Why didn't this individual file simply for bankruptcy; or

b) Why didn't he simply go to one of those corporate entities that assist Americans with heavy tax bills?

I for one, as one who has also been fundamentally affect due to the progressive policies of both Washington and my former home state's government can tell you that filing a bankruptcy in this country after the heavy lobbying once again of the financial sector is no easy matter, nor is it without cost in most instances.

And a "restructuring" due to its complications now also actually takes the assistance of a lawyers, lawyers who want to be paid in advance for their services, although the very reason such an individual would seek out their assistance is because they are "bankrupt."

Should it take paying a corporate concern to act as an intermediary in this country on tax issues in order to deal with this out of control agency, as has been the case for many an American after the "quick" and "speedy" passage of the 16th Amendment, along with the 17th and Federal Reserve Act which has progressively taken us more and more into global corporate socialism?

Due to the many complaints of the public in the past, Congress's solution was to again expand government and create another agency, the Taxpayer Advocacy office, to assist delinquent taxpayers, however, it appears this solution also was no solution at all. Instead of more closing monitoring this agency and their practices itself.

Now in addition to simply seeking payment for any and all delinquent taxes which are due, this agency has so many levels of "punishments" piled on to some of those taxes that the fines, fees and penalties many times exceed the actual tax due.

Did those founding fathers intend that the tax laws in this country were to be favorable to the government as a profit making venture, or simply in order to pay the actual costs of those duties and functions for which the federal (and state) governments were responsible?

We all know at this point that there are so many "outside" benefactors now due to special interest lobbying and greed in using our government in order to bulk up their profits and reduce their risks and losses at the public's expense after the illegal creation of "corporate person-hood" as another party to the Constitution way back when by a rogue Supreme Court ruling.

Or at least most of those even minimally political aware individuals in this country are. At least with respect to being negligent in its true duties and functions in actually regulating commerce, especially those national and global concerns, operating in the United States in order to protect those Bill of Rights protections which were meant to prohibit much of what is occurring today. Not give "property" a voice in government, or unequal "privileges or immunities" under the common law which existed when this nation was founded.

And especially not extending any Bill of Rights protections.

I don't know what lead this man to react and do what he did, but it appears due to the tenor of much of his notes and state of mind at the time, this truly was a desperate American taking a most desperate measure, and also lost his life in the process.

And I fear that as this recessionary depression, unfortunately, we just may see more and more of such occurrences happening, until our leaders start honoring their true job functions and public service positions rather than seeking re-election from the very moment that they first run for office.

Mr. Obama is now traveling the nation on behalf of those Democrats now running for office, when there are so many, many Americans still being left homeless and jobless, and while the economy in this country continues to tank.

What a tragedy, and truly appears to me could have been avoided from the rather cryptic reports at this point, and have no idea of truly just what transpired that lead this man to such lengths, but it is clear that in carrying out such a desperate act, there is something rotten in an America that such an event could ever have taken place.

We are paying untold fortunes to protect now most of our governmental officials and buildings, and since a great deal of our legislation now is actually focused more and more in removing Americans "unalienable" or "God given" rights, is it any wonder that such occurrences now are happening more and more, instead of less and less?

Obamacare: Using Corporate Business Models To Determine Health Care

For Any and All American Constitutional "Conserve"atives:

Last night I listened to part of Obama's new "road trip" and public relations spiel regarding the health care reform he and the Democratic Congress (and their Republican also Global Socialist members) are hatching in Washington.

At the end of the spiel all I could think of was that his health care "reform" is nothing more than "reforming" medicine and health care along the lines of any corporate enterprise. On a cost/benefit business model with an actuary in Washington then determining what types of treatment will be "approved."

In other words, Obama is now creating a new position within his administration whoever the new "health czar" will be.

God.

Or at least that is what the job description should read with the power which will be given over human life and death in this country.

Listen up, America. Do you really want some federally trained lackey in Washington determining whether or not your spouse, child or other family member "deserves" or is worthy of treatment for their health care needs?

And just who are you going to sue or bring charges against if that treatment is denied, anyway? It is you who are paying for that coverage, yet the only recourse that would be available to you would be to file a claim with the same entity that denied you the treatment to begin with.

The federal government.

And what if you have religious beliefs that preclude invasive medical treatments, or also rely more on homeopathic remedies rather than running to the doctors at the first sign of a cold or flu?

Should you be forced to pay for medical treatments and costs that will continue to escalate beyond your ability to pay at some point, as I do believe there will also be differences in the costs to citizens included within that bill according to their age?

And just how can the government "fine" you for not purchasing a government issued "product," or "service" which is what it is, because it is the government and not the health care provider or doctor who will be in charge of your treatment plan?

Do "business models" work for a vital service that all Americans most likely will need at some time or another in their lives? And what about the state plans, will citizens still be paying taxes for those state social service agencies on top of the expansion of DHHS that will be required in order to administer this massive plan?

Or will those state plans be "merged" with the states ceding more of their duties and functions to federal control, with then more state revenue to spend indiscriminantly in not having to come up with those matching sums? Just when will we phase out state government altogether, because that would be a huge tax savings to all Americans at this point since this does appear to be the plan from all appearances?

How much of those health care taxes will then be going into administrative costs for more federal government workers and THEIR salaries and benefits?

Is this the type of "jobs stimulus" Obama was referring to, expanding government to the degree that pretty soon everyone in this country will be somehow working for the U.S. government with Uncle Sam then doling out the spoils?

Isn't that the definition of pure communism?

The health care industry is licking its lips over this one, because it will be "bare bones" coverage and they will then get the opportunity to market those "supplemental" plans that they most likely will never have to pay off on.

Just why DO you think the AARP is involved in these talks? Who do you think has a huge share of the market with respect to their "supplemental" medicare plans at the present time?

And just why is it that this is being tailored to meet the needs of the industries which are raping the American people for their health care costs now as it is?

Obama and this Congress and Administration are getting scarier by the moment.

This is Soylent Green & Hitler wrapped into one, yet being marketed as a "solution," to a government created situation to begin with in not performing its governmental function in regulating some of those industries sufficiently but rather getting into bed with them for politicians personal political careers.

Warren Buffett must be making plans to buy Africa as a real estate investment in order to shelter some of that windfall profit he will be making, since included within the bill are measures which require the public to use "approved" health care providers for the cut rate plans.

Maybe that is also part of the plan, installing owner/CEOs in the various third world countries funded by their corporate holdings (of course funded also by the public in their public offerings, which market is then manipulated by the European bankster/owners) in the industrialized West and Far East so that the G-20 conferences are in truth of fact nothing more than corporate Board of Directors' meetings for Earth, Inc. of the principal owners with the world's population at that point nothing more than disinterested shareholder/members working for the planet's "corporate" greater good. Robot workers, in other words, at the mercy of the planet/state.

Did L. Ron Hubbard or Orwell write this script?

After all, Obama and this Congress and Administration are big believers in "science" based technology. Even predicting the planet's demise thousands of years down the road is within their grasp (although not tomorrow's ice storm or path of the next hurricane).

Maybe they left a word out. "Science fiction" based technology, perhaps?

And the little workers bees worth in the event of downtime then determined according to actuarial tables configured according to job position and risk/benefit losses at time of injury or their life expectancy.

At this point, all those on the Hill need to have a mental health check and/or check in to the nearest psychiatric ward.

After all, WE'VE paid for their coverage for years.

U.S. States Facing Budget Crisis: Why Balance Budget Laws Don't Work

This week there have been numerous headlines with respect to the budget crises now facing most of the states throughout the United States, again with the downward spiraling U.S. economy to blame.

Mr. Obama, of course, recently participated in one of the most massive layoffs and firings of the current employees for General Motors, of course consoling them with how their "sacrifices" now would reap benefits down the road. The question is, of course, for whom?

Apparently U.S.A., Inc. and the United Auto Workers, who were given an ownership share in the deal brokered by the Obama Administration in order to add this major U.S. corporation to Washington's budgeoning stock portfolio.

Oh, and the Canadian Teacher's Union Pension Fund which also received a share, at the expense of the autoworkers' in Detroits pensions and retirement, and the smaller private bondholder's investment, from the few details available since Mr. Geithner and Obama are again handling the details outside usual federal bankruptcy court in order to skirt around those public records and disclosure provisions.

I'm sure that acquisition has set Detroit and Michigan's economy back a bit insofar as sales tax revenues. Most of those autoworkers most likely will be eating pork and beans for a while, "sacrificing" for Mr. Obama's now Government Motors. And those bond holder owners just lost a little of that retirement money for those planned road trips in their golden years.

But China picked up a steal, or should I say, steal for its steel.

Now, even after receiving "kickbacks" in the form of federal funding through the stimulus packages of billions of dollars which are to be transferred to the states and billed to the state citizens and taxpayers as a whole, the states are now still whining about their shortfalls.

And the biggest whinner, of course, is that liberally run Golden State, defined by its excess over the course of years and the high taxes and destruction which has resulted due to their own liberalism.

It doesn't appear those in state office have been able to read the California Constitution for at least fifty years if not longer, since the early 60's.

I guess the costs of their open borders, pro-illegal immigrant positions, and past "save the trees" environmentalism that has since resulted in the destruction of thousands of homes and forested acres is finally coming home to roost. Costs for which the entire nation also has paid for during those self-created disasters in their misguided environmental radicalism during a ten year drought with overgrown forests which can now be set off by static electricity in more than a few areas and almost non-existent groundwater tables. Of course the fountains and jacuzzis are still humming along nicely.

And both Gray Davis and Arnold Schwartzenegger's freewheeling ways.

The OC set have never heard the word "fiscal conservatism," a term they associate with "right wing extremists," and Kansas farmers (who they would like to bail them out) when it comes to their creature comforts, limos, jacuzzis and their private jets which they cannot do without so that they can attend their next global warming lecture.

My former home state, Arizona, is also facing a crisis, or so it has been reported, even though many years ago the citizens in that state actually passed a "balanced budget" initiative.

Has it worked? Hardly.

You see, the government is the worst when it comes to following the laws and directives of "we the people." Our taxes fund literally hundreds of lawyers to advise legislators on just how they can skirt around some of those initiatives in order to continue doing business as usual.

When those budgets are released to the public, you need a magnifying glass and organizational chart to follow the money trail to find where all the funding is actually going. And even with those tools, you would only get half the picture.

Nowhere in those budgets are reported the sums that are received also from the federal government in order to fund some of these state programs. Thus, citizens in most states face dual taxation in numerous areas at both the state and federal levels.

It has gotten so bad in Arizona that they have sold former state funded prisons and/or are now contracting for local prisons and guards privatizing them, and are now charging the prisoners for their accomodations in order to make those lease payments, and giving incentives to officers on those federally funded DUI sports bar patrols in order to meet the federal grant guidelines to make those payments, which sums now are far more than the prior costs of upkeep and maintenance of some of those facilities for state taxpayers.

Most state and local impound lots also throughout the country have been privatized, many of which are owned by police officers as a further incentive in the new social drinking taxes.

Apparently, the state needed the money from the prison sale in order to assist in funding one of the state's new pet projects and new foundation under Janet Napolitano, the high tech gadget junkie, The Arizona Science Foundation.

Were the citizens consulted in this new project?

Of course not.

The state then subsequently entered into multi-year contracts with this organization (contracts with itself), which foundation is now suing the State of Arizona (again themselves or the state citizens ultimately) in order to get the funding through the backdoor, since in order to "balance" this years budget funding had to be reduced to this extra-Constitutional foundation for the press release of a "balanced" budget.

A new legal trick has now been the modus operandi in order to satisfy the state budget requirements, in now simply using the courts in order to fund some of these state created foundations and then hide all the extra revenue they are doling out for state agenda driven projects outside Constitutional authority or citizen accountability.

Then, of course, the state can appear to be "balancing" the budget while the courts and taxpayer paid "foundation" and private corporate attorneys negotiate and "seal the deals" factoring in, of course, their cut also in acting as the go-betweens of the state now in these NGO and extra-Constitutional funding matters.

Look hard, Californians, at that budget, and the court actions which have occurred in your state throughout the years.

I'm sure you'll find that there is plenty of money and there is no "budget" crisis, its just a matter of the state's priorities and legislators extra-Constitutional commitments that are the real problem.

And committing taxpayer sums and entering into contracts with either private or state created "foundation" contractors for multi-year terms in the first place, when state budgets in many states are required to be balanced annually.

To put it simply, deciding to fully fund and fulfill that multi-year contract for the newest "foundation" or multi-plex for the global visitors to Sacramento means the sums needed for vital services for which those tax monies are "legally" required such as the street repairs and garbage collection might just need to be cut, or reduced in order to "balance the budget."

Or in order to quell the masses, provide those sums in order to comply with the law, and then instruct extra-Constitutional "contractees" and developer instead to sue the State of California for their money, so that after the funds are provided and the lawsuit "settled," there is then a carry-over budget crisis and deficit again next year.

Balanced budget requirements are sort of like a shell game, with simply more and more "shells" (or shills) added each year.

That's what "liberalism" and legislating according to "living" Constitution beliefs actually does, encourages "corporate" socialism ultimately in taking from the poor (citizens) and give to the rich (foundations, corporations, developers), while the garbage piles up.

California Screaming: Golden State Needs More Than Mamas and Papas

Recently on one of the major networks it was reported that the State of California is facing a massive budget deficit, with the citizens of California screaming.

It appears Governor Schwartzenegger's solution to the catastrophy, one which again has a great deal to do with the past and current administration's governmental excesses from all reports, is now to request that the citizens of the United States bail out California much like the AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailouts (and it appears, the Big Three auto manufacturers).

California, the home of such programs as "Californication," "Beverly Hills 90210," "The OC" and the like, is hardly an innocent victim in their predicament, but a state who has built it's own reputation on fantasy and excess.

Apparently, it is those hard working Midwesterners and farmers that those in the Golden State now wish to come to their rescue, in addition to the out of work steel and auto workers, and those now homeless due to many of the practices of a number of banks who make their home also in the Golden State.

My former home state, Arizona, is now full of the refugees from California who essentially have destroyed that state with their excesses, and are working on destroying my former home in leaps and bounds with their liberal agendas.

Governor Schwartenegger, here are some suggestions for restoring economic viability in California:

1. Reduce all governmental salaries by at least 25%, in recognition that you, and all public employees of that state, also have blue ribbon health, dental, and pension plans that a good 2/3's of the private sector employees in California do not have (with the exception of Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Nobb Hill).

Place freezes on additonal new hires until the size of government in the state can actually bear relevance to need, i.e., since the cities and local governments are state actors of the State of California, both legally and by judicial interpretation, just maybe your bicameral legislature could be parred down to a unicameral one such as Nebraska has, which is actually more in accordance with the federal Constitution, since there are only three "legal" entities within it - the federal government, the states, and the people.

And Senators rarely represent the municipalites solely in state government, but usually also large corporate interests just as the House members now do although elected through supposedly "democratic" local elections. Although those candidates merely are representatives of political party and corporate interests, by and large, and many of which funded by out of district slush money.

The U.S. Senators were actually provided to represent "the states" with the U.S. House then representing the people. The 17th Amendment somehow changed all that and is why we now have Senators courted by foreign governments and corporate lobbyists, since if elected by the state legislatures as originally provided, they were accountable to the states themselves.

Such a change in California government would result in shorter legislative sessions, less bureaucracy, and less costs to the taxpayers with greater accessibility, and would also be a great idea for the other 48 states which have yet to recognize this "double whammy, double bureaucracy" excess. What a concept!

2. Institute gaming and gambling just like the State of Arizona and so many other states across the nation have rather recently done, and then in conjunction with the new social drinking taxes, have officers wait outside the casinos to pick up the low level DUIs after the casinos have plied them with alcohol. Either they lose the money in the casinos to the state, or just in the event they win or truly do not excessively imbibe, they lose it in the DUI fines and fees after leaving.

Then put them in the privatized county court system, so that the state, counties and cities can at least get their share of the fees and fines, and federal pork pie for those expenses and incarcerations which are factored according to arrests and conviction, and which are now made by juries who are becoming increasing comprised of primarily state or municipal employees. This, of course, has become the procedure in order to insure those conviction rates stay high and those dollars continue to flow in.

Or, as is also now spreading the country due to an errant unconstitutional Supreme Court ruling, remove those jury trials for those now criminal actions entirely, so that the city or county judge can simply act as the state revenue agent instead in the interests of claimed "budgetary needs," due to having now criminalized 2/3rds the population on a Friday or Saturday night.

Oh, and also install statewide those speeding cameras so that you can gain another several billions on those progressive fines and fees for speeding violations based upon those fallible machines. That should bring in billions!!!

Alas, though I see that the State Supreme Court is going to "review" the legality this week of Proposition 8, which passed recently under a citizen's initiative restricting marriages to two sex couples.

Overturn that "people determined" decision due to budgetary needs, and of course you can look forward to all those licenses fees, and the "for profit" court costs and fees for all those divorces sometime in the future. Not to mention all those added taxes that will be necessary in order to provide those courts for at least some of those divorces if only 1/3 of them end up in the courts eventually.

And also those future campaign contributions from the California Bar Association Domestic Relations Division due to the gold mine such an action would engender for their corporate interests in state permission and licensures of personal relationships, rather than simple recordations of these oral or written personal contracts.

The above should fix your budgetary woes, although with respect to California's total tax bill to the rest of the nation, does this take into consideration the effect and costs of those wildfires of yours due to the aging 60's hippie environmentalists and their offspring, nor the "global warming" scam supported by Hollywood in order to now tax the air we breathe.

I don't think Californians should be screaming, but the rest of the nation.
